About the role

The J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Supply Chain Management, beginning August 16, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Advancing knowledge in supply chain management through research in leading peer-reviewed journals.
• Teaching supply chain management courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Contributing to the life of the department, including sharing in research-active faculty team activities.
• Engaging in industry partnerships and collaborations.

Requirements

• A completed Ph.D. in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited business school or equivalent accredited institution by the position start date.
• Demonstrated record of published research in top-tier supply chain management, logistics, operations, or business journals.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to teach supply chain management courses effectively at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• High-quality oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and collegially as a contributing member of a research-active faculty team.
• Experience teaching courses related to logistics, procurement, transportation, operations, analytics, or supply chain strategy.
• Research interests related to resilience and risk, supply chain visibility, analytics, robotics and automation, technology-enabled supply chains, defense and critical infrastructure supply chains, the interface between commercial and public-sector logistics systems, or other areas of strategic industry importance.

• Demonstrated record of published research in top-tier supply chain management, logistics, operations, or business journals.

Preferred Qualifications

• A strong research record and demonstrated leadership roles in research projects that result in top-tier journal publications.
• A pipeline of research including manuscripts under second or third revision at top tier supply chain management journals.
• Experience teaching courses related to logistics, procurement, transportation, operations, analytics, or supply chain strategy.
• Research interests related to resilience and risk, supply chain visibility, analytics, robotics and automation, technology-enabled supply chains, defense and critical infrastructure supply chains, the interface between commercial and public-sector logistics systems, or other areas of strategic industry importance.
• Industry work experience in supply chain management, logistics, operations, analytics, transportation, procurement, retail, manufacturing, or related fields.

The J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is nationally recognized for research, teaching, industry engagement, and innovation in supply chain education. In 2020, 2022, and 2024 the supply chain undergraduate program was ranked #1 in North America by Gartner. As a result of its success in high quality and industry relevant integrated supply chain management education and collaborative industry partnerships the department was named the J.B.
