Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in ingredient preparation for pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods.
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients according to established recipes.
- Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofing cabinets.
- Help decorate cakes, tarts, and plated desserts in line with presentation standards.
- Follow recipes and guidelines set by the Pastry Chef to ensure consistency.
- Maintain high standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
- Perform quality checks throughout and after the preparation process.
- Keep the pastry station clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Uphold hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
- Wash and sanitize tools, equipment, and work surfaces regularly.
- Absorb inventory checks and restock pastry ingredients.
- Notify the Pastry Chef or purchasing team of low stock or spoiled items.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Work efficiently to meet production deadlines, particularly during peak service times.
- Support mise en place for daily service and events.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate dessert service with meal courses.
- Train junior team members or interns under the guidance of the Pastry Chef.
- Manage the pastry station in the Pastry Chef's absence.
- Stay informed about current pastry trends, techniques, and seasonal updates.
- Learn new recipes and refine baking skills under the guidance of the Pastry Chef.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pastry arts.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with members, management, staff, ownership, prospective buyers, and vendors.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail and quality.
- Enjoys working with members, guests, and children in a friendly and engaging manner.
- Proven ability to motivate and lead team members with strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Able to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing conditions, and perform well under pressure.
- High level of personal accountability and strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay organized and manage time effectively.
Education
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- An associate’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or equivalent relevant work experience is preferred.
Approximate Schedule and Hours
- Weekdays, weekends, and holidays, schedule flexible as business dictates.
Additional Compensation
- Soliciting gratuities from members or guests is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The employee is regularly required to stand and move around for the entirety or majority of their shift.
- The employee may be working outside or inside and in different types of weather including excessive heat, cold temperatures, rain and sunshine.
- The employee is also regularly required to push, pull, bend, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
