Assistant or Associate Professor, Anatomic Pathology

Long Island University Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-LCVM), located in Brookville, New York, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level within the pathology team.

About the role

The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s educational and diagnostic service activities, with a priority given to those with a strong background and interest in diagnostic pathology and teaching. Responsibilities include promoting LIU-LCVM’s mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research, and service. The role involves developing independent or collaborative research aligned with the College’s mission, delivering 4th-year Anatomic Pathology Clerkships, engaging in curriculum development, creating innovative learning resources, participating in committee service, and contributing to scholarly activity.

About LIU-LCVM

LIU-LCVM utilizes a distributed model of clinical education. The College features modern facilities and laboratory equipment designed to provide pathology support, including autopsy and histopathology services, to clinical partners, local veterinary clinics, and farms. These resources support the instructional needs of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) student training program.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, including delivery of 4th-year Anatomic Pathology Clerkships.
• Develop independent or collaborative research contributing to the College’s mission and scholarly output.
• Engage in curriculum development and create innovative learning resources.
• Participate in committee service and collaborative scholarly activities.
• Promote a culture of collegiality, collaboration, and inclusiveness within the workplace.
• Support diagnostic pathology services for clinical partners, local veterinary clinics, and farms.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
• Master’s, PhD, or other earned doctoral degree in biomedical sciences.
• Board certification by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (Anatomic Pathology) is preferred.
• Record of scholarly achievement as an independent and/or collaborative researcher, consistent with the appointed rank.
• Strong commitment to professional DVM and graduate student education.
• Proven teaching experience in large and small group settings.
• Excellent communication skills.
