Assistant or Associate Director of Compliance
Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is seeking applicants for the Associate Director of Compliance. This position will join a solution-oriented compliance team working together to support coaches, staff, and student-athletes within 23 high-achieving sports. Based on experience, this individual may serve as the compliance liaison for numerous sports and will provide forward-thinking and people-centered support to create positive outcomes.
Key job responsibilities
- Create strategy for and provide broad-based support to all sports, which may include playing and practice seasons, certified eligibility lists, student-athlete forms, promotional activities, memorabilia donations, signature requests, outside competition, annual awards, and the transfer portal.
- Aid in the design and execution of department-wide compliance educational efforts.
- Based on experience, may serve as the main compliance liaison for numerous sports. Sport liaisons support coaches, staff, and student-athletes with education, interpretations, and NCAA/Big Ten waivers through a collaborative and communicative approach.
- Assist with leadership in developing and publishing compliance reports in accordance with established laws and regulations.
- Audit and serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for potentially affected units and affiliated organizations, ensuring appropriate notices are issued relating to compliance.
- Collaborate with other institutional compliance subject matter experts to review procedures and make change recommendations to leadership.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of NCAA athletics experience or professional experience demonstrating transferable skills. NCAA athletics experience may include time spent as an intern/graduate assistant, student-athlete, coach, or any other comparable experiences within NCAA athletics.
- At least two years of full-time Division I NCAA athletics compliance experience. Applicants with two or more years of experience may be considered for the Associate Director of Compliance title.
- Awareness and working knowledge of the current state of college athletics.
- Most recent experience working within athletics compliance are at a P4 institution.

Compensation
The typical starting salary ranges from $58,000 to $70,000, depending on qualifications and experience. There may be flexibility for highly qualified candidates.
