About the role

Mohawk Industries is seeking an Assistant Operator to support the Sanding department. This position will assist in the continuous operation of the Sanding Line, performing duties such as inspecting material, coordinating forklift activities, and packaging finished products.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Sanding Operator in the operation of the sanding line
• Accurately and efficiently perform the job duties of the 120 and 550 forklift operators in Sanding
• Cookordinate the activities of forklift operators and assist them to ensure that material is being processed correctly
• Cookordinate product changeovers
• Identify material leaving the machinery and label it accordingly
• Perform quality checks in accordance with customer specifications
• Packaging finished pallets of material for shipment
• Assist with cleaning the finishing areas
• Assist the Sanding Operator and other personnel in repairing or maintaining the machinery
• Communicate any problems or ideas that you have to the Sanding Team Leader
• Observe safe work practices in compliance with Company safety policy
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating procedures
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required
• Forklift experience, preferred or the ability to get Forklift Certified
• Reads and writes in standard English and proficient in performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training

Qualifications

• Must be an effective team member
• Ability to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes
• Must be able to sit and drive a forklift
• Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related supported areas
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
