About the role

Mohawk Industries is seeking an Assistant Operator for their facility located in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina. The position involves visual monitoring of various plant areas, assisting with production processes, and performing housekeeping duties.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the continuous production of product through the air graders, forming line and press.
• Maintains raw board quality.
• Communicates with operators to ensure stable and consistent production.
• Monitors furnace, thermal oil pumps, resin pumps and lines, steam generator and refiner by making periodic rounds.
• Identifies process variation and assists in plant shutdown activities.
• Obtains resin samples from delivery trucks.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance.
• Carries out housekeeping activities.
• Assists maintenance personnel in performing technical work.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Ability to operate Forklift or pass Forklift Certification.
• Reads and writes in standard English and proficient in basic math calculations.
• Successful completion of all required on-the-job training.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be an effective team member.
• Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to work 12-hour day/night shifts.
• Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and dusty environments.
• Must be able to lift up to and carry up to 50lbs frequently and up to 80lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs, and work off elevated surfaces with heights up to 50 ft.
• Must not have any limitations in regard to working in confined spaces or wearing a respirator for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to make repetitive motions involving twisting and turning and use the force of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to kneel and bend over frequently.
• Must be able to climb on and work around machinery resulting in awkward or uncomfortable positions.
• Must be able to sit and drive forklift on uneven driving surface.
• Must be able to wear and work with a full-face respirator, when required.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule
