About the role

Mohawk Industries is seeking a Lift Truck Operator to join their team in Mt Gilead, North Carolina. This position operates gasoline-powered industrial trucks or tractors equipped with forklift and/or elevated platform to move materials.

Responsibilities

• Operates drive gasoline-, LP-, or electric powered trucks to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Operates lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
• Move pallets, skids, and boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
• Dumps, sprays, or releases materials into hoppers or empty hoppers.
• Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as:
• Cleaning
• Lubricating
• Recharging Batteries
• Fueling diesel powered lifts with fuel and refill small lift with propane
• Maintain safe driving speeds throughout the plant and adhere to safety policies.
• Records quality and output measures and completes any other required paperwork.
• Assist other work centers with cleaning or packaging as directed by team leader or supervisor.
• Load bunk injector with bunks (runners).
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Reads and writes in standard English and proficient in performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
• Successful completion of all required on the job training.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or MDF plant preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be an effective team member.
• Ability to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.
• Must be able to sit and drive a forklift.
• Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related supported areas.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
