Assistant Nurse Manager - Adult Psychiatry Unit (7RC)

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Adult Psychiatry Unit (7RC) assists members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes an evidence-based, patient-centered, interdisciplinary approach to care, collaborating with physicians, psychologists, advanced practice providers, master-level therapists, nurses, social workers, dietitians, occupational and recreational therapists.
• Works collaboratively with patients and families to provide the best possible care using evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed care.
• Performs 100% of the time, 40 hours per week, on a day shift from Monday to Friday, with on-call availability as needed.
• Works in a union environment and within a large academic medical center.

Requirements

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, current license to practice nursing in Iowa by date of hire.
• Experience: 1+ years of nursing experience with demonstrated leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency with computer software applications, strong time management, organization, delegation, attention to detail, thoroughness, and effective teaching skills for staff and patient education.
• Desirable: Experience working in a union environment and in a large academic medical center.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Experience: 1+ years of nursing experience with leadership skills, excellent communication, computer proficiency, and teamwork.

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs).
• Time management, organization, delegation, attention to detail, thoroughness.
• Collaboration and development of effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
