Position Summary

The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily store operations, delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining Peterbrooke Chocolatier's high standards for quality and guest experience. This role helps supervise staff, manage inventory, and ensure smooth store operations while creating a welcoming environment for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Support the execution of seasonal displays and promotions.

Customer Service

  • Provide outstanding customer service and product knowledge.
  • Absorb customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Promote customer loyalty through personalized service.

Team Leadership

  • Assist with employee training and onboarding.
  • Supervise staff during assigned shifts.
  • Create and maintain employee schedules.
  • Provide coaching and support to team members.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Sales & Marketing

  • Support efforts to achieve sales goals and store performance targets.
  • Promote holiday, corporate gifting, and special event sales.
  • Auxiliary with local marketing initiatives and community outreach.
  • Upsell products and encourage add-on sales opportunities.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering products and supplies.
  • Receive and organize shipments.
  • Conduct inventory counts and help reduce product loss.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chocolate products.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of retail, customer service, food service, or hospitality experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency.

Preferred

  • Experience in specialty retail, confectionery, bakery, or gift store environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and merchandising practices.
