About the role
Lead laboratory operations, and play a key role in delivering quality results in a dynamic scientific environment.
Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Assisting with the management of client jobs within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Overseeing daily laboratory workflows to ensure testing activities are completed efficiently and on schedule
- Cooking the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment to minimize downtime
- Supporting inventory management activities, including tracking consumables and procurement requirements
- Quality Assurance
- Enforcing quality control procedures and ensuring compliance with laboratory standards
- Maintaining adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality documentation requirements
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and regulatory compliance
- Technical Support
- Providing technical support for complex testing activities and troubleshooting issues
- Contributing to laboratory method development
- Staff Management
- Assisting with the training and development of laboratory personnel on methods, procedures, and protocols
- Supporting staff scheduling, performance management, and workforce planning activities
- Continuous Improvement
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards
- Contributing to validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
- Minimum of 5 years' laboratory experience
- At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a laboratory environment
- Experience within a geochemical or mining laboratory environment
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 quality systems, internal auditing, and method validation
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel internationally for training opportunities
