Assistant Industrial Maintenance Manager - 2nd Shift

About the role
This full-time, hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager position oversees a team of industrial mechanics and porters in our industrial laundry plant in Linden, NJ. The role is highly visible and requires supervision of all aspects of the maintenance department, including personnel, machinery repair, and preventive maintenance systems. This is not an office job—it is very hands-on, with the ideal candidate ready to take full responsibility when the manager is occupied.
Responsibilities
- Oversees mechanics and porters
- Maintains the preventive maintenance programs
- Aids the maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting
- Monitors quality of repairs
- Oversees building and physical plant repair issues
- Maintains porter schedule to maximize cleaning effectiveness of plant and machinery
- Adheres to safety programs
Requirements
- Must have experience with 480 volts—high voltage
- Minimum 5 years' experience repairing industrial processing equipment in an industrial environment or in the military
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience
- Knowledge of industrial equipment fundamentals, including electrical wiring, electrical components, pneumatic systems, steam systems, water systems, hydraulics, and building maintenance
- Ability to use basic hand tools properly and safely
- Experience responding in a time-sensitive environment with urgency
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing needed to legally operate specific plant machines (e.g., boiler license)
Pay
The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, seniority, location, and other permissible job-related factors.
Schedule
Sunday – Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Off Friday and Saturday.
