Urbana Country Club is located in Central Illinois in the Champaign-Urbana area. The Club features a brand new 10 million dollar 18-hole golf course designed by Drew Rogers, opening in May of 2025. Urbana Country Club provides a blend of amenities including a new resort building with a spa and 8 guest rooms, fitness center, sports courts, and aquatic center. This position will be focused on both casual and fine dining opportunities and events.

About the Role

Are you ready to lead the front-of-house experience at an exciting country club with a fresh, modern atmosphere as our Assistant in Training or Assistant Food and Beverage Manager? You'll play a crucial role in delivering top-notch service and ensuring our members enjoy unforgettable dining experiences. Working together with the F/B Management Team and Executive Chef, you'll be the leader of the front-of-house team, coordinating everything from service operations to guest relations, all while setting the tone for a welcoming, high-energy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Front-of-House Team: Oversee and inspire a dynamic front-of-house team to deliver impeccable service and create a welcoming, memorable experience for all members.
  • Scheduling & Payroll: Monitor and manage weekly employee schedules and payroll records, ensuring efficiency while keeping labor costs in line with the club's goals.
  • Recruitment & Training: Hire new team members, provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing training, and cultivate a service-first mindset focused on safety, accuracy, and member satisfaction.
  • Performance & Development: Provide feedback, document performance during the 90-day probation period, lead annual reviews, and offer continuous training and growth opportunities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Implement and uphold safety programs, ensure adherence to all safety protocols, and comply with state and federal laws, liquor control requirements, and health department codes.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage front-of-house operations, including inventory, cleanliness, and organization of all service areas. Complete opening and closing checklists to ensure readiness for daily operations.
  • Guest Experience: Promote F&B activities, assist with member relations, and ensure every guest leaves with a positive experience. Your energy and enthusiasm will set the tone for each guest's experience.
  • Daily Walk-Throughs: Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and presentable, and that all team members deliver service with courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Inventory & Stock Management: Oversee daily activity, ordering of products, stock levels, and monthly inventory to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Attend and participate in weekly department meetings, collaborate with the Executive Chef and GM, and ensure the entire team works toward shared goals.
  • Protect the Club's Assets: Ensure proper accounting and care for inventory, equipment, and supplies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Food & Beverage operations in either a restaurant or country club atmosphere.
  • Previous shift manager, assistant management, or management experience is preferred, or a similar role with a solid understanding of FOH operations. Open to considering candidates with strong server experience.
  • Food Handler's Certificate required.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.
  • Passion for hospitality and strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, train, and manage a team.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and managing financial aspects of F&B operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance with a strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Passionate about food and providing high-quality service to members and guests.
  • 2 years of previous Food & Beverage experience; server experience is a plus.
  • A desire to lead and train servers.
