Responsibilities
- Supervises Dining’s plan to attain the unit’s operational goals.
- Affords support to the designated Leader of the Residential Dining Unit.
- Manages and schedules staff to maintain the service standards while operating within budgeted labor cost guidelines.
- Reviews payroll for all union staff and temporary staff for accuracy.
- Aids in scheduling staff.
- Manages all payroll and is responsible for the HR tracking log.
- Takes the lead on developing, planning, and monitoring the Special Events with the team.
- Identifies opportunities and works with leadership and the team to implement new ideas to facilitate the achievement of financial goals.
- Remains aware of industry trends and constantly seeks and implements innovative new products and services for customers.
- Ensures adherence to Federal, State, Local, and Columbia University sanitation and OSHA rules, regulations, standards and codes.
- Supervises all unit staff to ensure customer and associate satisfaction in a healthy and safe work environment.
- Assists with all unit hires, monitors their training and evaluation, and assists in identifying and addressing unit staff members’ developmental needs.
- Interacts effectively and diplomatically with the University community including staff, management, campus departments, student organizations, and the general public.
- Develops relationships with people from public areas of the University to maintain a customer friendly environment.
- Manages special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience, preferably in food service management.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supervising staff.
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills are required.
- Extensive management experience in food service.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required, including strong written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising a unionized workforce is highly desirable.
- Experience with computers desirable, i.e.: proficient in Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Kronos Payroll Systems is desired.
- Working knowledge of a University environment is desired.
