Ergon Terminaling is a relationship-driven, family-owned company with locations throughout the U.S. and Mexico. We pride ourselves on maintaining a small-company feel while managing customers' needs by loading, unloading, and transferring chemicals to/from barges, tanks, and railcars. This position works in the tank farm with other operators as a team to produce, process, ensure quality, and load/unload materials directly to our customers. Please note: this is not an office-based job; you must be comfortable working outside in a variety of weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee terminal maintenance, heat trace system, housekeeping, and documentation/records upkeep as directed by the Facility Manager.
- Ensure safe and efficient handling of trucks, barges, and railcars.
- Delegate facility employee work assignments as directed by the Facility Manager.
- Assist the Facility Manager in maintaining training manuals, identifying employee training regulatory requirements, and maintaining records.
- Implement the on-the-job training program for facility personnel, including evaluation of tasks and skills.
- Schedule facility safety and refresher training meetings on a regular basis.
- Assist the Facility Manager in shift scheduling, overtime scheduling, and addressing employee concerns or issues.
- Oversee operation of the facility in the absence of the Facility Manager and assume their responsibilities.
- Assist in disciplinary problems (e.g., absenteeism, tardiness).
- Monitor terminal operations (e.g., heater and boiler reports, tank temperatures).
- Complete daily paperwork and distribute per the distribution list.
- Perform required laboratory tests for certification of products.
- Coordinate with sales on barge scheduling, inventory, blending, and special projects.
- Communicate with the Coast Guard concerning barge arrivals and transfers.
- Ensure outside contractors meet standards established by local, state, federal, or corporate agencies.
- Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Good math skills and leadership qualities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of all facility operations in every facet.
- General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations on local, state, federal, and company levels.
