The Assistant Facility Manager directs maintenance team activities on basic electrical or mechanical systems to ensure uptime and compliance with best practices, while positively exemplifying BGIS values.
Responsibilities
- Program Management
- Complete assigned projects by utilizing appropriate resources effectively and balancing client requirements with company strategies.
- Define client project requirements and determine/facilitate resource usage (internal and external).
- Manage projects to successful completion, implementing project schedules to meet or exceed client requirements.
- Provide ongoing project status updates to internal teams and clients.
- Balance competing client production priorities and negotiate compromises among projects.
- Ensure all projects are performed safely and in accordance with company safety policies.
- Oversee document management to ensure procedures and standards are established, maintained, and performed.
- Capture customer and non-customer impacting events for proactive Problem/Incident Management (PIM).
- Monitor compliance by consolidating training into a single system and produce high-level reporting.
- Establish key performance indicators and factors for measurement and verification.
- Diagnose and repair complex control systems malfunctions, requiring extensive knowledge of electronic/digital controls and ability to test/write modifications in multiple software languages.
- Provide proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment.
- Client Relations and Communication
- Ensure high customer and employee satisfaction while maintaining profitability.
- Document, manage, and escalate project and customer issues appropriately.
- Communicate with other company departments to ensure agreements are managed successfully and opportunities maximized.
- Evaluate emerging industry standards and coordinate potential opportunities with clients.
- Clearly explain technical information internally and externally to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field of study/work experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in facility management or a related field.
- Five years of experience in the critical electrical industry preferred.
- Eight years of journeyman-level HVAC or electrical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical facilities engineering responsibilities.
- Expert knowledge of data center operations and system configurations.
- Knowledge of building infrastructure systems.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems associated with the industry preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and train teams.
- Professional affiliations preferred (e.g., 24x7, IFMA, Data Center Pulse).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio) and working knowledge of SharePoint.
Pay
The compensation range for this exempt position in the US is $70,000–$80,000. A candidate’s salary offer is determined by factors including relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, and location.
