About the role

Assist in directing the operation, strategic planning and execution of all activities for the Food & Child Nutrition Services in the areas of procurement, food production, menu planning and nutrition initiatives.

Assist the Director of Support Services in leading the Support Services teams, department and district goals as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation and analysis of strategic plan systems and processes of work in department and recommend improvements and updates in all areas
  • Provide compliance documentation as needed for the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Administrative Review as requested
  • Develop goals and objectives for teams and individuals that ensure accountability in any areas as directed by the Director of Support Services
  • Monitor, assess and provide input on budgetary matters
  • Routinely visit district cafeterias and schools to evaluate the quality of food and customer service
  • Oversee the acquisition, installation, implementation and maintenance of technology software and hardware for all Dallas ISD cafeterias and Food Service offices
  • Stay up to date on Federal and State Regulations, school board policy, other legal and administrative regulations related to all areas of program management
  • Oversee coordination of bid renewals to the district procurement for food, paper, supplies and equipment for the department
  • Aid in the development of bid specifications and estimated usages
  • Oversee menu compliance with local, state and nutrition guidelines
  • Assist support services teams with process improvement projects and team goals and recommend new solutions as needed for support services teams
  • Supervise the work activities of assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Requirements

  • Occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 25 lbs
  • Occasionally required to work prolonged and irregular hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required or Master's Degree preferred from accredited university in Business, Institutional Management, Food Service or Nutrition
  • RDN, LD and or SNS preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State policies, procedures and regulations regarding Child Nutrition Programs
  • Demonstrated skills in personnel management, strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while balancing numerous job tasks and functions
  • Demonstrated ability to provide positive customer service to all stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form
  • Demonstrated ability to produce favorable results while maintaining positive relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse groups of the community and district personnel
