The Role at a Glance
Sitting within the Athletics department at Lehigh University, this position carries meaningful responsibility for the commercial and community dimensions of Mountain Hawks sport. You will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing plan — spanning visual design, ticket sales, and fan experience — across football, Men's & Women's wrestling, and men's and women's basketball, as well as other ticketed athletics events. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will have the scope to shape how Lehigh Athletics is experienced by its fans, alumni, and the broader Bethlehem community.
What You'll Drive
- Collaborates with leadership to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and production plans that drive ticket revenue, increase attendance, and enhance fan engagement for core sports (football, wrestling, and basketball), while managing event entertainment and integrating sponsor content.
- Oversees graphic design and multimedia content creation across print, digital, email, and billboard platforms to support athletics branding, venue imaging, donor recognition, and promotional materials that positively impact ticket sales and fundraising.
- Captures and coordinates closely with Ticket Services, Sports Communications, University Communications, and campus/community stakeholders to market all athletics events while ensuring strict compliance with NCAA and Patriot League regulations and completing required administrative reports.
- Leads the recruitment, hiring, training, and professional mentoring of diverse part-time staff, interns, graduate assistants, and volunteers, while directly managing their daily work assignments, evaluating performance, and conducting formal program reviews.
- Directly supervises and executes game-day entertainment and promotions for the four ticket-selling sports, coordinating all pre-game, post-game, and intermission activities involving the video board, music, mascot, anthem performers, spirit squads, and marching bands.
- Develops and implements comprehensive marketing and advertising plans (across digital, print, radio, and social media) to maximize season, individual, and group ticket sales for core sports, while serving as the primary lead for Paciolan/Eloqua platforms and Pac Digital advertising.
- Designs and executes on-campus promotional initiatives to boost fan attendance at both ticketed and non-ticketed events, which includes building, managing, and improving game-day scripts and promotional timelines (run of show) for revenue-generating sports.
- Oversees the daily allocation of time and talent for interns, graduate assistants, and part-time staff, while driving continuous improvement through problem-solving, tracking annual performance metrics, and analyzing the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
- Champions the institutional and departmental mission across public platforms (website, social media, and fan engagement), while leading strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts in technology, creative content, marketing initiatives, and policy enforcement.
- Trains and mentors student interns, graduate assistants, and student workers, while directly coordinating and improving student spirit groups (including the Marching 97, cheer, dance, Pep Band, and Clutch performers) and leading situational problem-solving to resolve issues.
- Cultivates positive relationships with the University community, external vendors, and internal departments (Media, Tickets, Facilities, and Sponsorships) to enhance in-game promotions and reinforce the department's mission, while actively participating on committees, researching industry best practices via surveys, and pursuing continuous professional development for self and staff.
- Drives institutional visibility and growth by achieving departmental educational, competitive, and financial goals—including increasing net revenue, attendance, and partnerships through targeted marketing and promotions—while fostering personal development and recognition for staff and student-athletes.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or Sports Management
- Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum of five years experience working in sales, marketing or ticketing
- Demonstrated experience in sports marketing, ticket sales, or a closely related field
- Proven ability to develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns with measurable outcomes
- Strong visual design sensibility, with experience overseeing or producing creative assets
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working across departments and with external partners
- Familiarity and experience with graphic design, imaging and digital marketing is preferred
- Understanding of the NCAA Division I athletics environment and the unique dynamics of collegiate fan engagement
