Responsibilities

  • Supervises Staff and Ensures Policies and Procedures Are Being Followed
  • Collaborates with Medical, Mental Health, and Correctional Staff to Enhance Quality Patient Care While Maintaining a Safe and Secure Work Environment
  • Aid DON in Managing Nursing Staff, Monitoring Staffing Needs, Hiring and Training of New Staff, and Conducting Performance Evaluations
  • Effectively Communicate with Healthcare Staff and Correctional Staff to Coordinate Patient Care with Providers Outside of the Facility
  • Maintain Compliance with Site-Specific and Company Policies and Procedures, Taking Appropriate Corrective Action, and Ensuring Compliance with ACA, NCCHC Standards
  • Create and Manage Staffing Schedules to Ensure Adequate Nursing Coverage for All Shifts
  • Maintain Stock and Availability of Health Care Related Equipment and Supplies, Including Pharmaceuticals and Over-the-Counter Medications
  • Maintain Current and Accurate Patient Records and Documentation
  • Develop Staff, Conduct In-Service Training for New and Current Staff
  • Conduct Daily Clinical Rounds to All Designated Areas of Responsibility to Observe and Review Documentation, Orders, and Patient Care Plans, and Ensure Objectives Are Understood and Practiced by the Nursing Staff
  • Assist in Daily Triage/Sick Call, Minor Medical/Surgical Procedures, and Patient Assessments
  • Participate in All Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Meetings as Assigned and Required in Accordance with Contract Compliance
  • Mitigate Risks by Proactively Addressing Potential Hazards, Including Dangerous Work Conditions, Health and Safety Concerns, and Reporting Issues to Company Leadership and Facility Management

Qualifications

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona
  • Possesses an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Two Years of Clinical and Progressive Management Experience Providing Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Mental Healthcare Services Within a Correctional Healthcare or Acute Care Setting
  • Ability to Manage Complex Staffing Matrices and Clinical Supplies
  • Excellent Communication Skills with Proven Experience Managing and Training Medical Staff
  • Knowledge of Nursing Practice Principles and Techniques, Occupational Health and Safety Standards, Infectious Disease Management, Applicable Health Care Laws, Regulations, and Procedures for Direct Health Care Services
  • Integrity, Professionalism, and Ability to Adhere to a Code of Conduct and Comply with All Facility(s) Correctional Healthcare Policies, Procedures, and Legal Requirements
  • Must Pass the Facility’s Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
