Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage in the facility
• Assist the DON in determining the staffing needs of the nursing service department
• Maintain staff education and conduct in-service training as necessary
• Resolve personnel problems and build employee motivation
• Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours
• Supervise all admissions and readmissions for eligibility or denial of Medicare Skilled services regulations
• Notify providers of resident status of eligibility for skilled services and changes
• Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing work assignments
• Report findings to DON
• Provide a comfortable, clean, orderly, and safe environment for residents
• Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules
• Administer medications and provide treatments as necessary

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
• Must possess a degree in Nursing from an accredited school
• BSN degree preferred
• Two (2) or more years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility required
• Previous long-term care experience is preferred
