About the role

The Assistant Director of Human Resources is a key HR leader responsible for the day-to-day operations and service delivery of the Human Resources function at Cascadia College. Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise HR Generalists, providing daily direction, workload management, coaching, and support.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, monitor progress, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Support staff professional development through training, feedback, cross-training, mentoring, and identification of growth opportunities.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex, sensitive, or high-priority HR matters requiring advanced judgment or coordination.
  • Promote a responsive, accurate, accountable, and service-oriented HR team culture.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new HR staff to ensure continuity, consistency, and effective service delivery.
  • Lead the full recruitment lifecycle for classified, exempt, and faculty positions including job postings, application screening, search committee coordination, salary placement, offer letters, and onboarding.
  • Champion and continuously improve the Equity Advocate Hiring Program; train search committee members on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards, applicant tracking system use, and confidentiality expectations.
  • Oversee background check processes and ensure completion prior to employee start dates.
  • Career Development: Lead annual employee training programs and support professional development initiatives across the college.
  • Maintain accurate and organized personnel records in compliance with retention requirements.
  • Coordinate annual salary surveys and compensation benchmarking data to support workforce competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, SHRMCP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in higher education or public-sector HR.
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and HRIS platforms (e.g., ctcLink).
  • Knowledge of Washington State benefits, retirement programs, and leave processes.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • HR documentation and records management standards.
  • HRIS and ATS functionality.

Pay

Initial Salary: $84,812.09 (includes 5% King County Premium Pay)
