Assistant Director of Engineering
About the role
The Assistant Director of Engineering at The Dunlin, Auberge Collection, plays a crucial part in ensuring guest and colleague comfort and safety. This role involves working closely with the management team and providing in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Create professional relationships and actively participate in all hotel operations, including daily and weekly management meetings, and support to all team members.
- Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair, and maintenance using well-trained, presentable personnel who carry out maintenance work efficiently, discreetly, and in a guest-friendly manner.
- Ensure all maintenance requests are prioritized and dealt with efficiently.
- Develop, train, and supervise a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians to carry out all maintenance and repair work according to technical specifications.
- Oversee and coordinate mechanical repairs, transportation, preventative maintenance, and ground/landscaping teams.
- Ensure the Fire system is operating properly and train the Maintenance team and key team members, e.g., the Night Audit, on fire emergency protocol.
- Troubleshoot IT hardware issues.
- Act as the 'go-to' in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
Requirements
- Proven experience and a solid understanding of plumbing, HVAC, electric, spa and pool utilities, and carpentry.
- Three years' operating experience in the engineering department of a hotel or closely related industry. Luxury preferred.
- Experience in maintaining state and federal health and safety regulations.
- Able to work on a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to departmental and operational needs.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Bi-Lingual highly appreciated.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Window applications required.

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 based on experience

Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to departmental and operational needs.

- Proven experience in engineering department of a hotel or closely related industry.
- Understanding of plumbing, HVAC, electric, spa and pool utilities.
- Experience in maintaining state and federal health and safety regulations.
