About the role
The primary responsibility of this position is assistance with all academic and administrative functions of the Nurse Anesthesia (NA) Program Director, including oversight of the clinical curriculum, contracts and student assignments. The Assistant Director reports to the NA Program Director and performs the Program Director's duties in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Aid the Program Director in ensuring initial and ongoing compliance with the accreditation standards of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
- Assist with the administrative responsibilities of the program and assume the NA Program Director role in their absence.
- Coordinate and oversee the clinical curriculum, including learner assignments, learner experience logs, and clinical evaluations.
- Instruct in core nurse anesthesia course content.
- Develop content for the simulation curriculum that includes low and high-fidelity simulation for student clinical site preparation, evaluation of competency-based learning, and student remediation.
- Collaborate with the Program Director and Student Success Center coordinator to provide counseling and assessment of remediation needs of learners.
- Coordinate research and evidence-based practice activities for learners and CRNA faculty, including the DNP scholarly project, and support student publication and dissemination of research in scholarly journals and professional forums.
- Serve on the NA Program Curriculum Committee and provide leadership in curriculum development, assessment, and revision to meet COA and CCNE curriculum and learner outcome standards.
- Serve on the Nurse Anesthesia Program Admission Committee; participate in review and selection of candidates for admission.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP) from an institution of higher education that is accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredited institution at the time the degree was conferred.
- Unencumbered Illinois license as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).
- Current certification of recertification as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a CRNA.
- Graduate level teaching experience.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $208,333.00 - $283,333.00.
