Assistant-Associate-Professor, Nurse Anesthesia Program

About the Role

The role of individual faculty is relative to teaching, participation in the development of academic programs, engagement in research and scholarly activities, and support of the University’s public service mission. This is dependent on the level and type of faculty appointment as well as academic preparation. This job description outlines minimum expectations; consecutive-term and tenure-track faculty are expected to perform at higher than minimum levels. Specific criteria for promotion and tenure can be found in the College of Nursing Criteria for Faculty Appointment and in the OUHC Faculty Handbook, Sections 3.8 and 3.9.

Core Nurse Anesthesia Faculty

  • Primarily engaged in the didactic education of nurse anesthesia students and doctoral advising.
  • Report to the DNP-NA Program Administrator.
  • Provide service to the Program, Department, College, and University through committee work and related duties.
  • Maintain a clinical practice to ensure experiential qualification for teaching nurse anesthesiology content.

Simulation Faculty

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based education.
  • Ensure both low- and high-fidelity simulation experiences enhance learning, clinical competency, and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and administrators to integrate simulation into the curriculum effectively.
  • Maintain best practices in simulation-based education and technology.
  • Report to the DNP-NA Program Administrator.

Clinical Education Faculty

  • Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of all clinical education activities.
  • Report to the DNP-NA Program Administrator.
