Assistant Director for Assessment Operations (State Administrative Manager 15)
About the role
The Office of Educational Assessment & Accountability (OEAA) within the Department of Education Services and Special Programs (DESSS) plays a crucial role in Michigan's educational landscape. OEAA is responsible for developing, administering, and reporting on assessment programs, jointly developing and maintaining content standards with the Office of Educational Services (OES), and managing various assessment-related systems and data.
Responsibilities
- Developing, administering, and reporting on assessment programs
- Jointly developing and maintaining content standards with OES
- Electronically housing the libraries of content standards developed jointly with OES
- Developing achievement standards (proficiency standards or cut scores) on the assessment programs for which it is responsible
- Operating the Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators (FAME) Program and managing all OEAA projects
- Responding to assessment and accountability reports and state analysis requests

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of educational assessment principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to analyze and interpret data, develop and maintain content standards, and manage assessment programs. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Additional Requirements and Information
- Some positions may require a current or past possession of a Michigan's teacher's certificate or one comparable to the one issued in Michigan.
