ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-DEVELOPMENT
General Responsibilities
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Assistant Director of Development to join UAB’s School of Health Professions. The Assistant Director is expected to efficiently solicit and close a defined number of mid-level gifts within a specified timeframe in support of the school. This includes intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of mid-to-high net worth prospects. The incumbent is expected to meet/exceed established metrics on an annual basis – including dollar, visit, solicitations and proposals presented goals. This position will report to the Director of Development for the School of Health Professions and will be an integral member of the University Advancement team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a donor network of mid-to-high net worth prospects and establish a portfolio of individuals, corporations and foundations with the capacity to make mid-level gifts
- Execute fundraising strategies to raise mid-level gifts in support of UAB’s School of Health Professions
- Input all prospect/donor contact information into CRM
- Advance, create and deliver proposals to prospects and donors, and ensure that all donors receive appropriate acknowledgments and recognition
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary
Pay Range: $52,555 – $65,000
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of fundraising or equivalent experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Ability to work competently within CRM
- Intermediate knowledge of fundraising techniques (qualifying, asks, objections, messaging)
- Advanced networking - positioning conversations
- Advanced stakeholder management (status, prospects lists, communications, etc.)
- Knowledge of basic planned giving techniques
- Portfolio development / management
