Assistant Coach, Men's Rowing

About the Role

Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) is the premier intercollegiate athletics program in the country, supporting nearly 900 student-athletes across 36 teams. The Assistant Men’s Rowing Coach will perform administrative duties, on-water instructional education, and support operational efforts under the direction of the Head Coach. This is an onsite fixed-term role.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit a sincere interest in the emotional, social, and academic development of student-athletes.
• Teach on-water sport-specific skills to develop student-athletes.
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior in pursuing program goals.
• Identify and recruit academically qualified student-athletes while following NCAA guidelines and University standards.
• Assist in planning and transporting student-athletes and equipment to competitions.
• Facilitate equipment maintenance and upkeep.
• Display leadership and professional behavior in developing student-athletes.
• Contribute to maintaining a good working relationship with all DAPER members.
• Adhere to the highest professional standards and ethical behavior in compliance with NCAA, IRA, ACC, and University regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or their designee.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three years of collegiate or professional coaching experience (collegiate experience preferred, but coaches with a strong track record of developing junior athletes are encouraged to apply).
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with student-athletes, peers, and the public.
• Computer literacy with common office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Google Docs).
• Ability to navigate and manage Instagram and Twitter accounts.
• Understanding of and ability to comply with Stanford University, ACC, Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, personnel, and the community.

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $70,250–$72,500 per annum. Pay is determined based on scope, qualifications, budget, internal equity, and market factors.
