Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball
Description
The Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach/Dorm Supervisor shall assist the head coach in all aspects of the basketball program, including planning, organizing, and conducting practices. They will provide skill development sessions and tactical training to student-athletes, assist with game preparation, strategy development, and in-game coaching. Additionally, they will support the recruitment efforts by identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes. The role involves fostering a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence among players, monitoring academic progress, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the assigned residence hall.
Qualifications
- Holds a Bachelor's degree, with previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques.
- Experience in a residential life setting or student affairs role.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and fostering positive relationships.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the campus community.
Job Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, organizing, and conducting practices for the basketball program.

- Maintain academic progress of the players through study halls and other means.
- Adhere to policies and regulations as outlined in the Policy Handbook.
- Obtain a CDL driver's license as needed.
- Reside in the dormitory on a full-time basis and adhere to the rules and regulations as outlined in the Moberly Area Community College Housing Handbook.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned residence hall, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive living environment for students.
- Participate in residence hall programming and events to enhance the overall student experience and foster a sense of belonging.
- Address student concerns, conduct disciplinary actions when necessary, and enforce college policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, offering guidance on academic, personal, and social matters.
- Collaborate with Student Affairs for the beginning and end of semester/year activities of the residence halls.
- Communicate with the Director of Security & Residential Life about any known absences from the residence hall on weekends, holidays, and college breaks.
- Report any violations of the Housing Handbook policy to the Director of Security & Residential Life and Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
