Men's Basketball Assistant Coach

Position Summary

Aid in the administration and daily operations of the University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball program. Responsibilities include providing sport-specific coaching instruction, assisting with recruiting and retention efforts, supporting student-athlete development, and ensuring program activities align with the mission and objectives of the University and Athletic Department.

Essential Functions

• Afford student-athletes the opportunity for positive character development by adhering to the USM Mission and NAIA Champions of Character principles.
• Support student-athletes in their personal and academic growth.
• Promote USM Mission values of community, respect, justice, and excellence.
• Coordinate the recruitment of high-quality student-athletes.
• Maintain the retention of student-athletes through rigorous monitoring of academic performance.
• Perform sport-specific coaching duties as directed by the Head Coach.
• Manage and maintain sports equipment and uniforms.
• Collaborate with the Athletic Department for promotional events, fundraising, and recruitment.
• Contribute to the management of USM Athletic Department games and events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, master's preferred
• Two to three years of related experience
• Valid driver’s license and insurability
• Knowledge of NAIA and KCAC rules and regulations
• Ability to work nights and weekends, capable of traveling
• Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. and endure long periods of standing or sitting
• Alignment with the University of Saint Mary’s overall mission
