About the role
The City of Davenport, Iowa is seeking an accomplished local government executive to serve as its next Assistant City Administrator. This newly created executive leadership position offers the opportunity to help lead Iowa's third-largest city by strengthening organizational performance, coordinating strategic initiatives, and partnering closely with the City Administrator to deliver exceptional public service.
Responsibilities

- Serve as a trusted partner to the City Administrator and an effective liaison with elected officials
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in municipal government or public administration
- A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation
- Residency within the City of Davenport within one year of appointment
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Administration or related field
- Experience serving as an Assistant or Deputy City Manager/Administrator
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional municipal operations
- Experience working directly with elected officials and governing boards
- Strong financial management, capital planning, and strategic implementation experience
Pay
The starting salary is $180,000–$205,000 DOQ, complemented by an outstanding executive benefits package.
