About the role

The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of running an intercollegiate Baseball program. Key responsibilities include teaching/coaching student athletes, developing players, recruiting, and managing administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting practice and game coaching in compliance with University and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Prepare effective game strategies and design practice sessions.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to student-athletes.
  • Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified prospective student-athletes.
  • Communicate with individuals contacting Bentley about the program.
  • Maintain positive public and alumni relations.
  • Assist with video/breakdown analysis and scouting of opponents.
  • Train student-athletes needing additional time or individual coaching.
  • Represent Bentley in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1+ years of coaching experience and/or participation in varsity-level sports
  • Valid, unrestricted United States driver's license with an insurable driving history
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and commitment to developing a positive playing environment
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules/requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overnight assignments

Qualifications

Schedule

The work environment includes standard office time, but more often time is spent outside on the playing fields for practices or games. A significant amount of time is also spent at traveling tournaments for recruiting purposes and other gym/training facilities.

Every practice involves physical effort whether it be demonstrating a skill or conditioning.
