Assistant/Associate Professor - Chemistry of Food and Food Ingredients

About the role

The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences seeks a tenure-accruing faculty member in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department, focusing on research and teaching related to the chemistry of food and food ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Develop a research program in areas such as sustainable food ingredients, sensory, allergens, toxicology, plant-based food ingredients, and more.
• Teach courses in food science, including Food Chemistry, Toxicology, Instrumental Analysis, and Flavor/Sensory Chemistry.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students, and mentor master’s and doctoral students.
• Engage in Extension activities related to the Land-Grant mission.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and related service work.

Requirements

• A doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Food Science or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, and interpersonal relationships.
• A commitment to UF core values.
• Preferred postdoctoral experience and experience teaching in-person and/or online.
• Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
• Demonstrated ability to procure extramural research funding.
• Knowledge of the food industry and organizations, activities, and trends.

Qualifications

• Doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Food Science or a closely related discipline.
