Assistant/Associate or Professor of Clinical Pathology (Transfusion Medicine) (CHLA)

About the role
As a faculty member, you will engage in research, clinical service, and teaching. The position is open rank and offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and scholarly accomplishments.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care, translational research, and education in Transfusion Medicine
- Conduct Transfusion Medicine/Apheresis consults and procedures
- Cover blood bank and blood donor center physician responsibilities
- Collaborate on research projects with the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology, and the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases
Requirements
- MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree
- CA medical license upon hire
- American Board of Pathology certification/eligibility in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine or significant clinical experience in transfusion medicine
- Experience with a Transfusion Service that handles 18,000 blood transfusions annually
- Therapeutic Apheresis Services handling 550 cases per year, including stem cell harvests, extracorporeal photopheresis, plasma and red exchange
- Experience with a Blood Donor Center that supports 12,000 whole blood donors and 2,000 platelet donors
