About the role

The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is seeking academic nephrologists for faculty positions. The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension is expanding its clinical care for patients with kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease, end-stage kidney disease, and various forms of dialysis and apheresis care. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient nephrology care, including continuous dialysis therapies, apheresis care, plasmapheresis, cellular pheresis procedures, continuous renal replacement therapy modalities, invasive procedures, end-stage renal disease care, consultation, and the development of new healthcare models.

Responsibilities

  • Full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient nephrology care
  • Continuous dialysis therapies in critically ill patients
  • Apheresis care, plasmapheresis, cellular pheresis procedures
  • Invasive procedures
  • End-stage renal disease care
  • Consultation
  • Delivery of new models of healthcare in the nephrology space
  • High-quality training, teaching, and/or research

Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent, DO, or MD/PhD in health-related areas
  • California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Nephrology
  • Experience in designing and evaluating clinical trials and observational data to define the targets of blood pressure treatment in persons with kidney disease preferred
  • Research and/or clinical interest in hypertension preferred
