The starting pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00 per hour. The full pay range is $25.00 - $42.50 per hour.

About the Role

Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep guests, team, and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product availability for guests. This role builds relationships inside and outside of Target, including with store leaders and public safety officials, such as law enforcement.

The Assets Protection Specialist role helps build and develop skills for a career, including:

  • Using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to enhance safety and reduce shortage
  • Monitoring guests and identifying potential theft risks using Target’s video surveillance system
  • Implementing Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage
  • Documenting cases effectively
  • Identifying strategic resolutions for external theft, fraud, and apprehension

Responsibilities

  • Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by:
    • Greeting guests within 10 feet (smile, make eye contact, or wave) and 4 feet (initiate a warm, helpful interaction)
    • Helping guests find what they need or resolving issues for a smooth shopping experience
    • Ending every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
  • Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience
  • Support total store sales, guest service, and profitability by preventing and resolving theft to ensure product availability
  • Resolve theft by conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while adhering to AP policies and procedures
  • Identify theft trends using technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics
  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating key issues
  • Use video systems to monitor theft activity
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy
  • Promote a culture of physical security and safety for team members and guests through awareness and training
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
  • Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct them where possible
  • Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Ability to communicate using multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish tasks within timeframes
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving up to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); ability to work scheduled shifts, take required meal and rest breaks
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
