About the role
The Asset & Wealth Management Corporate Development team focuses on external growth through strategic M&A, commercial partnerships, and business strategy. As part of the divisional leadership team, you’ll regularly engage with senior stakeholders, the Executive Office, and the Goldman Sachs Board of Directors. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-visibility strategic initiatives with exposure to senior leadership in New York.
Responsibilities
- Support evaluation and execution of all aspects of M&A and partnership opportunities, including building the strategic case, financial model, and valuation.
- Conduct in-depth competitor and industry research to identify key trends driving change; form independent, fact-based assessments of opportunities and threats.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across traditional and alternative asset management and wealth management sectors; develop deep knowledge of competitors.
- Prepare materials for AWM, Executive Office, and Board-level communications on strategy, performance, and competitive positioning.
Recent Initiatives
- Strategic M&A: Drive end-to-end M&A processes, including identifying platform gaps, screening acquisition candidates, evaluating strategic and financial merits, and integration. Recent examples include the acquisitions of Innovator Capital Management (April 2026) and Industry Ventures (January 2026).
- Commercial Partnerships: Structure impactful partnerships with external parties, including minority equity investments. Recent examples include partnerships with T. Rowe Price (September 2025) and GeoWealth (March 2026).
- Business Strategy: Leverage internal expertise and independent research to inform opportunities like new market entry and product development. Monitor industry developments to identify emerging trends or threats.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (finance preferred).
- 3 years of experience (investment banking or equity research preferred; FIG experience a plus).
- Robust analytical, quantitative, and technical abilities, including financial modeling and valuation experience.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analyses into concise takeaways.
- Experience with market data providers like Morningstar, Preqin, FactSet, or Visible Alpha is a plus.
- Background or strong interest in the asset and wealth management industry.
Pay
The expected base salary for this New York-based position is $100,000–$160,000. You may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
