The Asset & Wealth Management Corporate Development team focuses on external growth through the evaluation and execution of strategic M&A, commercial partnerships, and business strategy. As part of the divisional leadership team, the Corporate Development team regularly engages with senior divisional stakeholders, the Executive Office, and the Goldman Sachs Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Support evaluation and execution of all aspects of M&A and partnership opportunities, including building the strategic case, financial model, and valuation.
  • Conduct in-depth competitor and industry research to identify key trends driving change; form independent, fact-based assessments of key opportunities and threats.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert across traditional and alternative asset management and wealth management sectors; develop deep knowledge of competitors.
  • Prepare materials for AWM, Executive Office, and Board-level communications on strategy, performance, and competitive positioning.

Key focus areas include:

  • Strategic M&A: Drive end-to-end M&A processes, including identifying platform gaps, screening acquisition candidates, evaluating strategic and financial merits, engaging and negotiating with prospective targets, and integration within AWM. Recent examples include the acquisitions of Innovator Capital Management (closed April 2026) and Industry Ventures (closed January 2026).
  • Commercial Partnerships: Advance strategic and commercial ambitions by structuring impactful partnerships with external parties, including minority equity investments. Recent examples include partnerships with T. Rowe Price (announced September 2025) and GeoWealth (announced March 2026).
  • Business Strategy: Leverage internal expertise and independent research to inform opportunities, including new market entry and product development. Monitor industry developments and competitive landscape shifts to identify emerging trends or threats and execute new business initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (finance preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience (investment banking or equity research preferred; FIG experience is a plus).
  • Robust analytical, quantitative, and technical abilities, including financial modeling and valuation experience.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analyses into concise takeaways.
  • Experience with market data providers such as Morningstar, Preqin, FactSet, or Visible Alpha is a plus.
  • Background or strong interest in the asset and wealth management industry.

Pay

The expected base salary for this New York-based position is $100,000–$160,000. You may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
