ASSEMBLER (FABRICATION SHOP)
Job Summary
Assemblers look for faulty components and mistakes throughout the assembly process. Such assessments help ensure quality by allowing assemblers to fix problems before defective products are made. Responsible for the assembly of metal products, such as valves and hydraulic cylinders, and more according to directions while supporting the direct labor operations of the Fabrication Department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble parts according to specifications
- Read and understand schematics and blueprints
- Position or align components and parts, either manually or with hoists
- Operate drill presses and punch press machines
- Disassemble valves for salvage
- Conduct quality control checks
- Test assemblies as required
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and ensure the safekeeping of equipment
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and finish surfaces using hand tools and/or portable power tools
- Use various machines and hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety procedures and regulations
- Clean and maintain the work area and equipment, including tools
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management
Qualifications And Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others as part of a team
- Proficiency in taking accurate measurements and performing basic arithmetic
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Proficiency in using a measuring tape and other measuring tools
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements, safety guidelines, and company policies
- Must be able to adapt to changing production schedules, department assignments, and business needs

Working Conditions
- Employees will work in a noisy environment and may be frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
- The role involves working near moving mechanical parts and using standard heavy equipment and tools.
- The department assignments are heavy industrial, repetitive, and may be performed outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- The employee must wear a respirator and hard hat (when applicable), approved safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
