Essential Functions of the Job
- Covers for other production team members during breaks and absences.
- Coordinates, sets-up, CIPs, swabs, monitors, and runs the mixing area following batch records for a variety of non-dairy based products.
- Assists with routine maintenance on mixing equipment, including valves, o-rings, homogenizer packings, and oil/gaskets, and documents work orders accurately.
- Troubleshoots and resolves basic to moderate operating difficulties involving area equipment.
- Starts up and shuts down all equipment related to the mixing area.
- Understands the flow process for all mix areas and identifies critical control points.
- Accurately prepares and maintains processing area documentation, ensuring legible handwriting and compliance with FDA guidelines.
- Maintains operational efficiencies, yields, scrap loss, and other key indicators to improve plant productivity.
- Communicates effectively with warehouse, process operators, and supervisors regarding delays or problems in the mix area.
- Performs quality checks to ensure standards are met and takes samples for the quality department.
- Wears appropriate PPE when required.
Key Accountabilities
- Safety: Adheres to plant safety rules, reports near misses and accidents, participates in safety inspections, and reports potential hazards.
- Quality: Follows Quality Assurance System guidelines, adheres to SOPs and SSOPs, and complies with GMPs, HACCP, and SQF programs.
- Maintenance: Assists maintenance technicians during repairs and reports equipment issues promptly.
- Housekeeping: Maintains a clean and organized work area, assists with general plant housekeeping, and cooperates with other shifts and management.
- Communication: Ensures effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators and supports the support group.
- Teamwork and Training: Promotes team development and contributes to coaching and training employees.
- Personal Development: Continuously improves knowledge of the Aseptic Filling process, becomes familiar with SunOpta 360, and adheres to the Annual Alchemy Schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Ability to work well in a team-based environment.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Accurate and detailed record keeping and legible handwriting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.
- Understanding of allergens and cross-contamination prevention.
- Compliance with GMPs and Safety Procedures.
- Good personal hygiene.
- Knowledge of mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to evaluate situations and make good decisions.
- Ability to inventory raw ingredients.
Additional Considerations
- Location: SunOpta Plant in Midlothian, TX.
- Shift: Nights (C) Shift - 6 pm to 6:30 am; 2-2-3 pattern.
- Pay Rate: $25.80/hour.
- Shift Differential: $2.00/hour for 12-hour night shift on 2-2-3 pattern.
- Work Environment: Production / Manufacturing.
- Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, standing for 12 hours, going up and down stairs repeatedly.
