About the role
The Area Vice President (AVP) of Operations oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of an assigned geography of branches for Home Health. Responsibilities include ensuring efficient and effective processes are in place to meet financial and operational objectives, driving operational excellence, managing budgets, analyzing data, implementing strategies to optimize operations, and leading a team of executive Directors, Administrators, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Works with Regional Vice President of Operations and Finance to plan and execute the company’s budgeted revenue goals
- Collaborates with other business functions such as Sales, Clinical Operations, HR, and Finance to ensure business and financial goals are achieved
- Closely works with clinical leadership to ensure appropriate quality standards are met for the identified branches
- Maintains awareness of changing business needs and implements actions to resolve and address those needs
- Identifies underperforming operations and develops and implements corrective action plans
- Ensures employees understand and adhere to compliance, regulatory, and company processes, procedures, and regulations
- Develops positive and trusting relationships with local leaders and communities served
- Consults with the RVP of Operations in budget/financial goals for the operating area
- Collaborates with the RVP of Operations in determining operational risk factors and contributing to the creation of relevant mitigation plans
- Participates and contributes to the annual budgeting process for the HH Division for the respective area of responsibility
- Holds leaders (operations) and teams accountable for achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and business/clinical quality goals
- Provides leadership, mentoring, coaching, and development to direct reports
- Reports on plans and achievement of business, admission, and clinical/quality goals to division president and company CEO
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains direct reports
- Maintains turnover in the area of responsibility, ensures proper hiring, training, and development of newly hired staff
- Collaborates with support departments to achieve routine collaboration with payer contracting to negotiate the strongest contracts
- Maintains proactive monitoring of metrics to effect change in a positive direction before month end
- Collaborates with business partners and uses appropriate resources to accurately forecast monthly admissions/growth
Qualifications
- Degree in health administration or related field
- Eight or more years of experience with multi-site management in a home health, hospice, or related healthcare program
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse or other clinical license preferred
