About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team at Ross, a leading off-price retail chain with over 2,200 stores. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Area Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a specific area of the store, managing associates, and ensuring a safe, secure, and customer-friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by practicing safe behaviors and immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer service by treating all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Support the Company brand by representing and supporting the brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance, and ensuring all areas of the store are clean and merchandised to standard.
- Manage loss prevention by understanding and complying with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintaining a high customer service presence, and engaging in heightened loss prevention awareness.
- Supervise front-end operations by executing Company Best Practices, managing the line to expedite, training and coaching associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
- Oversee fitting rooms by maintaining their cleanliness and ensuring all garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
