About the role

Operations roles at Amazon put you at the center of how things move from a click to a doorstep. You'll help design, improve, and run systems that connect people, products, and places, at scale. As an Area Manager, you'll take ownership early, work closely with teams to solve real-world challenges, and see the direct results of your decisions as they reach customers every day. This is a full-time, early career position located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings.

This role is not corporate, remote, or office-based. It is a warehouse environment where standing, walking, and on-the-production-floor conversations are common. Amazon provides extensive training and development to become an exceptional people leader.

Responsibilities

  • Support, mentor, and motivate 50-100 direct report Amazon Associates.
  • Work independently and operate in an autonomous environment.
  • Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Regularly work shift patterns that include nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on business needs (most follow a fixed 4-day work week with 3 days off).
  • Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities), and step in as needed.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Climb and descend stairs (when applicable).

A day in the life:

  • Start of Shift: Set the tone by reviewing handoffs from the outgoing manager, leading a team huddle to align on goals, safety priorities, and key focus areas, and ensuring your team is ready for operations.
  • Middle of Shift: Lead from the floor by walking regularly, driving results across safety, quality, and productivity, adjusting staffing and resources as needed, coaching team members, and partnering with support teams to remove roadblocks.
  • End of Shift: Close strong with a final walkthrough, review shift performance data, hand off priorities to the incoming manager, and complete administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a bachelor’s or master’s degree (all degree requirements must be met before your first day).
  • Must have work authorization without employer intervention.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program for Supply Chain, Business/Management, Engineering, or another related field.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is:

  • USA, AL (Birmingham, Tanner): $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL (Deltona, Jacksonville, Jupiter, Miami, Milton, Naples, Port St. Lucie, Temple Terrace): $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
