Aquatics Coordinator I

About the role

The City of Greenbelt, MD, is seeking an energetic and resourceful individual to serve as an Aquatics Coordinator at the Greenbelt Aquatics and Fitness Center (GAFC). This position oversees aquatic and fitness programs and activities, supervises staff, and manages daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement aquatic and fitness programs and activities at the GAFC.
• Supervise staff including Fitness Attendants, Personal Trainers, Water Exercise Instructors, Lifeguard, Pool Managers, and Customer Service Representatives.
• Oversee the daily operations, activities, and programs conducted within the GAFC.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
• One year of progressively responsible experience in an aquatic facility.
• Prince George’s County Pool Operator’s License.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
• An American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification within three months of employment.
• An American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certification, or an equivalent credential, within three months of employment.

Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, which include but are not limited to:

• Ability to develop and implement aquatic and fitness programs and activities.
• Effective supervision and management skills.
• Knowledge of aquatic and fitness facilities operations.
• Ability to manage staff and oversee daily operations.
