APRN / Non-Physician Provider

Full-Time | Day Shift | Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

About the role

The Non-Physician Provider is a medical provider responsible for taking medical histories, examining patients, maintaining patient records, identifying health risk factors, prescribing medications, and making referrals to treat health conditions. The practitioner may focus on patient wellness and disease prevention, provide health education services, or counsel patients on healthy lifestyle choices.

This role serves individuals impacted by HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, and other infectious diseases as part of a professional team dedicated to the organization’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical assessments on new patients, consult with, and follow up on patients at the clinic.
• Document patients’ physical assessments, medical histories, and progress reports within 72 hours according to CAN’s chart documentation policy.
• Render assistance to complete paperwork related to medical management of patients, billing, or credentialing requirements.
• Retrieve and evaluate patient medical results, including pathology and lab results, specialty or primary care consultations, and diagnostic test reports.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
• Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
• Assess and determine patients’ status for symptoms, toxicities, and side effects.
• Collaborate with and supervise medical staff, as assigned by CAN and according to state law.
• Provide training to in-house nursing staff.
• Collaborate in systemwide educational, clinical effectiveness, and quality activities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or bachelor’s degree.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARNP) Licensure or Physician Assistant Licensure.
• Minimum three (3) years of HIV medicine experience preferred; one (1) year required.
• IV experience.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and a driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check.
