Primary Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the campus-based evaluation staff and the speech language pathologist, the clerk will provide reception and clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the campus special education department.
Qualifications
- Certification/Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Special Knowledge/ Skills:
- Proficiency in typing and word processing
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures
- Effective communication (verbal and written)
- Positive interpersonal skills
- Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software for spreadsheets, databases, word processing
- Bilingual preferred
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Aid campus-based evaluation staff, including the speech pathologist, in office management duties.
- Aid in maintaining an efficient and positive work environment.
- Aid campus-based evaluation staff, including the speech pathologist, in maintaining federal, state, and local regulations and timelines by monitoring reports generated from district software system.
- Assist in preparing materials for all ARD meetings.
- Work collaboratively with campus-based evaluation staff, including the speech pathologist, to ensure the required/necessary participants are invited to ARD meetings.
- Scan, upload, and mail ARD documents to teachers and parents.
- Maintain records, files, and other required documents on special education students.
- File and maintain documents in the audit folder and special education software system immediately after the ARD is completed and activated.
- Assist speech pathologist in preparing instructional materials as needed.
- Communicate to district office any requests for records.
- Interpret ARDs and phone calls, as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as determined by the campus-based evaluation staff, speech pathologist, or principal.
