Appraisal Specialist
A Brief Overview
The Appraisal Specialist assists with the administration of the Bank's appraisal program for residential and commercial loans. Ensures the Bank is compliant with all appraisal regulations and internal policies, and utilizes knowledge of appraisals and real estate markets to provide a consistent, thorough, and compliant review function for appraisals received by Bank. Provides additional support to lending and credit staff by addressing real estate and appraisal-related inquiries. Demonstrates foundational knowledge of appraisal law and bank policy, and is a reliable resource for bank personnel on valuation issues.
What You Will Do
- Perform reviews of commercial and residential appraisals, ensuring all appraisals are reviewed for compliance and accuracy.
- Analyze appraisal methodology for soundness of conclusions.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of key real estate trends and metrics in the Bank's market areas.
- Communicate with internal staff & external vendors knowledgeably regarding appraisal methodology related to both commercial and residential valuation issues.
- Perform internal evaluations on common property types for loan transactions that do not require an appraisal.
- Assist in the engagement of outside firms for appraisals of commercial and residential properties.
Other Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years valuation experience, preferably within the banking industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
