Job Overview
As an Applications Engineer at Hubbell, you will contribute directly to solutions used across the U.S. electric grid—supporting the utilities and OEMs that keep power flowing nationwide. In addition, you will play a key role in technical marketing, helping to articulate the value and performance advantages of our products.

This includes developing technical collateral, supporting product launches, preparing use-case notes and competitive comparisons, and equipping our sales organization with the tools and insights needed to win in the market. A Day In The Life
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs and industry trends, translating insights into targeted product strategies that drive new product adoption and revenue growth.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to support engineer-to-order (ETO) projects.
- Deliver technical marketing expertise throughout the product lifecycle to support Sales initiatives, enhance customer understanding, and strengthen market positioning.
- Analyze cost, market, and competitive data to inform pricing recommendations.
- Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, and application notes.
- Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, customer-friendly messaging.
- Investigate and troubleshoot specific customer application or product problems and propose solutions and changes that may be required for satisfactory resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other relevant Engineering discipline
- Typically requires 3+ years of experience in technical sales or design engineering; candidates with exceptional technical aptitude may also be considered
- Strong skills in both 2D drafting and 3D CAD modeling to support product configuration, technical review, and collaborative engineering work
- Ability to understand electrical schematics, power systems, and utility standards, with a demonstrated capacity to build proficiency in these areas
- Ability to evaluate product costs through BOM review, material/labor analysis, and manufacturing cost drivers
- Enthusiasm for working cross-functionally and developing a well-rounded understanding of engineering, manufacturing, and business operations
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, supporting effective work across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams
- Technical Sales and/or Engineering background a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer support and field activities
- Knowledge of grid modernization trends is a plus
- Involvement in IEEE/IEC/CIGRE technical committees is a plus
