Application Architect III-US

Key Responsibilities

Lead application architecture and technical design efforts for CSS initiatives
Provide hands-on technical guidance throughout the SDLC (design through implementation)
Serve as the technical interface between development teams, vendors, and project management
Identify application-level risks and support mitigation planning
Ensure solution quality, performance, and alignment with enterprise standards
Support system enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution in complex environments

Required Experience & Skills

• 8–10 years of experience with Customer Billing Systems, specifically CSS (Customer/1)
• 8 years working in a formal SDLC environment
• Experience working in utility or regulated environments
• Strong application architecture and systems integration experience
• Prominent experience leading technical teams (internal and vendor)
• Able to manage and influence vendors and hold them accountable

Technical Skill Requirements

• Mainframe technologies: COBOL, DB2, UNIX, GoAnywhere, MuleSoft Managed File Transfer (MFT), C Foundation for Cooperative Processing (FCP)
• Client/server and internet-based architectures
• Basic WAN/networking concepts

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Comfortable acting as a technical liaison between IT and business stakeholders

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or similar (or equivalent professional experience)

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
