About the role
As an Appeals Coordinator, you will represent the customer, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS), in defending eligibility decisions by appearing before the Division of Administrative Law (DAL) in appeal hearings with presentations of summaries of evidence. This is a remote role.
Responsibilities
- Review decision/denial letters on new appeals requests received, research data and materials to accumulate evidence, draft and prepare summary of evidence (SOE) files, and upload final SOE files to the DAL SharePoint site.
- Monitor deadlines to ensure timely submission of SOE files and hearing status reports.
- Collaborate with internal departments as needed to gather information required to complete appeal files.
- Participate in the quality assurance (QA) process of Long Term-Personal Care Services (LT-PCS) eligibility decisions.
- Conduct appeals hearings over the phone with the Division of Administrative Law.
We will teach you how to:
- Prepare summaries of evidence.
- Prepare for appeals.
- Document required reporting for the position.
- Utilize SharePoint.
We will also help you get IHC Certified with the LA Department of Health and Hospitals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in health and human services, social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
- Quality communication skills, both oral and written.
- Desire to work with the public.
- Louisiana resident.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in health-related social and/or human services.
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities.
Schedule
This is a remote work position. Work in a way that allows you to work from home and also have time onsite (when needed) to connect with other team members and business leaders.
Pay
The estimated hourly rate for this role is $17–$21.50.
