About the Role
The surgical oncology inpatient APP works within the adult ICU, progressive care, and acute care areas serving the surgical oncology GI, breast, and soft tissue patient population. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the APP primarily manages critically and acutely ill adults and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for surgical oncology needs. The APP is generally aligned with a service team and manages day-to-day patient care from ICU to step-down to discharge.
The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism in interpersonal and communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
Responsibilities
- Manage critically and acutely ill adult patients in ICU, progressive care, and acute care settings.
- Serve as a resource for surgical oncology needs across UKHC.
- Oversee day-to-day patient care from ICU to step-down to discharge.
- Ensure an environment of safe, high-quality care through evidence-based practice and education.
- Utilize electronic medical health records (EPIC).
Requirements
- MSN for Nurse Practitioners or BS for Physician Assistants.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) licensure.
- No prior experience required.
- Physical requirements: standing, sitting, keyboard use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP).
Pay
$114,915–172,217/year.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, Day Shift (4 days/week); 6:00 AM–6:00 PM.
