Responsibilities
- Provides live verbal record of races indicating name of horse, rider, lengths behind, and any other descriptors for the benefit of the general public and simulcast audience of Zia Park Racetrack Races
- Provides morning line odds for races
- Provides general announcements to the public
- Conveys pertinent information such as scratches, changes, and any other updates of racing information as directed by the Mutuel department or stewards
- Provides explanations of infractions occurring on the racetrack and resultant disqualifications
- Provides on-air pre- and post-race commentary on horses and participants in races, including interviews with race participants
- Coordinates with the audio-visual department in developing content for daily simulcast presentation
- Assists in coordinating needs for general or racing-related media or promotional events before, during, or after races
- May require work during non-racing hours
- Follows all cleaning, sanitation, and PPE position-specific guidelines

Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Read, write legibly, understand, and speak English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word)
- Must be licensed with the New Mexico Racing Commission
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
- Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and communicate verbally in English
- Written communication skills in English may also be required
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Paid time off is earned according to the local policy and increases with the length of employment.
Pay
Starting salary: $55.00 per hour. Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
